Coverage

Areas we cover across California

California ADU Network routes homeowner requests statewide. Our contractor bench is deepest in four regions: the Bay Area, San Diego, Sacramento, and Los Angeles.

How we describe coverage honestly

California ADU Network is a routing network, not a chain of local offices. We do not have a physical branch in any city. What we do have is a growing bench of licensed, vetted ADU contractors who tell us where they actually take on projects. Below are the four regions where that bench is currently deepest, based on real demand we see from homeowner requests and the contractor coverage we have vetted so far.

Bay Area

Dense lots, strict setback and height review, and some of the state's highest ADU demand as a way to add housing without buying more land.

San Diego

Coastal neighborhoods, a mix of city and county permitting paths, and strong interest in ADUs for rental income and multigenerational housing.

Sacramento

Larger flat lots and generally more straightforward permitting compared to coastal metros, which often means shorter project timelines.

Los Angeles

Hillside lots, fire-zone considerations in some neighborhoods, and very high homeowner interest in ADUs for rental income.

Outside these four regions?

California's statewide ADU law (Government Code §65852.2) applies to every city and county in the state, so ADU projects are possible well beyond these four regions. If you are elsewhere in California, request a match anyway — we will check current network coverage for your specific area and let you know honestly if we do not yet have a strong match, rather than sending you a contractor who does not actually serve your location.

How we decide where to focus first

We prioritized the Bay Area, San Diego, Sacramento, and Los Angeles because homeowner request volume and licensed-contractor availability both concentrate heavily in these regions. That is a reflection of statewide ADU demand patterns, not a claim that ADUs are only worth building in these four places — the same state law and the same general permit process apply everywhere in California.

Coverage grows as our network grows

As more licensed ADU contractors join the network, our real coverage area expands. Rather than list cities we do not yet have genuine contractor relationships in, we would rather confirm coverage honestly, request by request, than publish a padded list that does not reflect reality.

What "deepest coverage" actually means

When we describe a region as having deep coverage, we mean we currently have multiple licensed, vetted contractors actively taking on projects there, which generally means faster matching and more choice if you want to compare bids. A region outside our four highlighted areas may still have a good match available — it just means we have fewer contractor relationships there today, and we will tell you that honestly rather than overstate our reach.
